Kicking things off was Laruso. I didn’t catch all of the Laruso’s set due to queuing outside to get in, but I did hear the last 2 or 3 songs which sounded pretty decent. I shall not be reviewing Laruso because I didn’t see the whole set, I’m sure you understand.
Next up was In Case Of Fire, a band that I have liked for some time now. They remind me of a early Muse (no pressure then guys!), If you ask me, They have a lot of potential to be a big band in the next five years. Whilst Tonight wasn’t their best performance (that I’ve seen) it didn’t have to be. All tonight had to do was plant the seed in people’s minds and make sure everyone knows to keep a eye and keen ear on this band and I think they succeeded in doing that. Although some songs were cut due to their limiting 30 minute set, they did have some very strong songs in “This Time We Stand” and “The Cleansing”.

Fightstar have come a long way in 5 and a half years and their impressive and varied arsenal of songs showcased tonight confirms it. I had concerns before the gig that the new songs with orchestra elements would be overlooked for obvious reasons. However they managed to pull it off with the use of a backing track which added the Orchestra elements. This meant songs like “Calling All Stations” and “War Machine” could be played without losing any of their pulling power. Fightstar impress me every time I see them, they give it their all, and each band member brings something vital to proceedings. Combine that with a set list that has no filler in it (at all!) and thats all any fan could ask for. The main and possibly only downside for me personally would be that “Mono” and “Amethyst” where not played even though they were on the set list. Still, The venue itself was very intimate and helped make the evenings music all that more enjoyable.
