Placebo – For What It’s Worth (single)

One of the most recognisable and opinion-splitting voices in rock, Brian Moloko, is back with Placebo’s newest single, For What It’s Worth.

One thing I like about Placebo is that they never lack energy…whereas other British rock bands tend to hit a certain age, and slow things down, lose the riffs and begin to entertain the idea that a ballad is a good thing, it hasn’t happened here. Placebo have managed to avoid this throughout their long career, with only the album ‘Sleeping With Ghosts’ coming close.

‘For What It’s Worth’ is a treat, and should see the band gain more chart space and radio play, and leaves you wanting more. Which is exactly what a single should do. Steady riffs, simple-but-attention-grabbing drumming all proving the backdrop for Moloko’s deceptively strong vocals.

Original and fresh, whilst retaining all of Placebo’s most famous traits…bring on the album.
