Earnest, honest and charming, Andy Stedman puts a very British spin on American country music. Atleast that’s the feeling I got; the musical backdrop could be any number of ordinary Americana, but the thing that clearly differentiates this and them, is the lyrical content. Unashamedly British, each line of this quirky love song is imbued with a charm and wit that’s rare in today’s music scene, and makes Andy genuinely likeable.
Second track (or b-side, if you will) is a delicate acoustic song, telling a tale of misguided youth. It’s a genuinely endearing song, and Andy manages to instil some very personal touches into this simple acoustic melody with his strong vocals and lyrical flourishes.
A world away from the likes of likes of James Bland Blunt, the nearest comparisons are likely Frank Turner or even Get Cape- Wear Cape- Fly. Uncomplicated, catchy and melodic, it’s music with a genuine personality. Seek it out.
