Considering my only other real experience of the Pet Shop Boys was about ten years ago, and consisted of watching some bloke in a daft hat sing ‘Go West’ on ‘Stars In Your Eyes’, maybe I’m not the most qualified person to give you my thoughts on this, their newest single.
But here goes anyhow.
About 5 seconds of a perfectly good acoustic guitar is overtaken by a summery, sickly pop beat, which is quickly followed by some standard-’Dance’ males vocals. It’s something you can imagine Kylie throwing out. The drum beat doesn’t change, the vocals are bland and annoying, and it’s generally rubbish. Yet somehow these guys are huge?
Am I missing something?
