The Gaslight Anthem – The ‘59 Sound

The Gaslight Anthem – The ‘59 Sound

Simultaneously sounding like a long list of other acts, this genre band do very little to make themselves stand out. Aping The Killers more than can be healthy, any interest I had began to wane quite quickly.

It’s not a bad song, by any means, and any fan of The Killers (or other such bands) will likely lap it up, but for me it did nothing. There was no backbone, nothing interesting. Everything was depressingly familiar, but done well enough to appeal to certain music fans.

Over the course of a full album things may be different, but as my first encounter with this band (bar a bit of hype from friends), it’s non too impressive.

You should check the album out man, it may change your opinion.

Are you saying Gaslight sound like the Killers?

Not exactly…they just sound bland in the same way that The Killers sound bland…

Technically good, but ultimately boring, is what I thought.
